Me, Callie and Maggie!

Meet Callie Shaffer and her sister, Maggie!   Two magnificent and energized little girls who spent the afternoon at North Stanly Middle School sharing their stories and teaching us about what it means to choose kind!  I just fell in love with these girls.

Please be in prayer for Callie as she will soon be going in for another surgery to "fix" her face.  To me she is beautiful just the way she is.....but we will hopefully get to see her again once the healing is complete from  her next surgery.  She is just a precious little girl and I pray that God guides the surgeon's hands, calms the family's emotions, and gives Callie courage to endure, pain free recovery and quick healing.

CHOOSE KIND

These pictures show our students making posters for our guest speaker, Callie.  Callie is one of the Wonder Kids who came on Friday to encourage our students to "choose kind" and not judge people by the way that they look or because they are different.  You cannot imagine the excitement in our art room when I told the kids they were going to make these posters for Callie, and that we would hang them all over the school so that she could see them upon her arrival.  I was overwhelmed by all the creativity and effort that the students put into each poster.  Not only did Callie receive words of welcome and encouragement (this was Callie's first speaking engagement), but she got a whole lot of love in each design.  I'm so proud to be a part of a school where the students are accepting of other's differences.  We were all blessed that day!

Getting Geared Up for the Souper Bowl

It's almost time for the Souper Bowl at NSMS!

Yes, I said Souper Bowl....this January the NSMS staff will be spending some much needed quality time together....eating homemade soups in our own handmade bowls.  So here are a few pictures of my newest students creating their clay bowls....let's just hope they hold the soup in!
