Midterm!

I want to apologize for being slow to post during the beginning of the year.  As teachers, we are learning lots of new stuff, one of them being our new grading system.  That being said, it's time for midterms!   Instead of each student taking home a different slip of paper for each teacher, the midterms will all be on one sheet....hopefully this will make it easier for the students and will also cut costs in our school's paper supply.

Because of this new procedure there will not be individual art assignments posted, notes from me, or any extra information that I sometimes send home with the students about their progress.

So FYI....
If your child has a low grade (lower than an 80) that usually means there is either an incomplete assignment, a piece turned in with no name, or one that has not been turned in at all. So yes, your child may tell you that he/she has turned something in, but I can assure you that I have graded all the artwork that has been placed in the finished art drawers for each grade level.

Some students just work slower than other, so incomplete assignments are due finished and returned by the end of the nine week.  There are no points deducted for late work.

Missing art, or art with no name, just needs to be found and taken care of by the student so that it can then be graded.   There are hundreds of pieces of artwork flowing through my classroom during the first few weeks of school and there is a specific routine and space designated for their art work.   Students need to take the initiative and be responsible for finding these and taking care of the problem.
